AUDIENCE THEORY 2!

AUDIENCE THEORY 2: Theory questions and your opinion:   Social learning theory has been criticised for simplifying the causes of violence in society. Do you think the media is responsible for anti-social behaviour and violence? The media is not responsible for anti-social behaviour and violence, Infact the people you surround yourselves with and the environment you adapt in is responsible. If you grow up in a violent household or a household that is quiet and very anti-social, you are most likely going to live how you have been raised.  How is social learning theory relevant in the digital age? Are young people now learning behaviour from social media and the internet? Give examples. Social learning theory is relevant in the digital age because people adapt and get used to what they see online, for an example if people are out and they are all on their phone then you are more likely going to use your phone too. Another example could be little kids that watch YouTube on their iPad ten

AUDIENCE THEORY 1!

AUDIENCE THEORY 1: Hypodermic model theory: Read this  Mail Online article about the effects of videogames . How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model? The hypodermic needle model suggests that the media can inject information in us that can be very dangerous. This article shows that playing violent video games for just 20 minutes a day can encourage aggressive behaviour. This links with the hypodermic model because it shows that just by playing violent video games it can cause long term effects by "injecting" the violent behaviour that is in the game to children in real life.   How does coverage of the Talk hacking case (see Daily Mail front page below) link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone criticise this front page?  The daily mail presents the fact that the young boy that has an addiction of a violent game and never leaves his room is the medias fault, because if the boy commits a crime like this then it's because he has been affected
