RECEPTION THEORY!

Image
RECEPTION THEORY: The natural reading of the advertisement that the producer wanted the audience to view this poster as was to see how 50cent has gone through a lot in his past whether that is about crime (the fingerprints in the background) or sadness "tomorrow is not promised" he is still not afraid to hide on who he is in fact he is proud of what he has got through "I am what I am" . However, the counter hegemonic reading can suggest the fingerprints in the background can relate to having a past in jail which many parents and consumers may find this advertisement is outputting wrong teachings to the younger generation. Many people who have their own opinion believe that 50cent is not a positive role model so the advertisement from reebok can be very unattractive. This poster can also influence little children to not care and plan out the choices they make and may do things that they regret. The creator would like the consumer to see this poster as a prom

READING AN IMAGE - MEDIA CODES!

READING AN IMAGE: This is an advert of Reebok with the rapper 50 cent on front of the poster.  The colour of the poster is black , and 50 cent is in the dark probably trying to make himself stand out from the darkness. I believe the producer intended to promote the idea that Reebok will be as powerful and outgoing as 50cent. The phrase in the centre of the poster with the use of the typography sans serif "I am what I am"  creates a brand identity suggesting that Reebok is trying to show the idea of being yourself and how it is important. The way 50 cent is presented in this poster he is conveyed to be strong his facial expressions seem to be very serious and   shows a sense of proud on the type of person he is. The fingerprints as a part of the background and the sans serif could be analysed opposingly as the fingerprint can represent a very olden form of identification (as nowadays there's a lot more technological modern way for identification such as face ID) an

MY MEDIA CONSUMPTION!

MY MEDIA CONSUMPTION: NEWSPAPERS: Which daily newspapers (if any) do you read? I read the metro newspaper What sections of newspapers do you turn to first, and why? I always turn to the international news section of a newspaper when I do read one. I turn to this section because it alerts me on the upcoming issues and educates me on what can happen whether that is a risk or not   What sections do you never read, and why? I never read the sports section because I am not very interested in sports and the news are not as intriguing as the international news are. I also do not read the advertising part because there is barely anything to read about. What kinds of stories do you usually read and why? I do not read stories from the newspaper only if it is from the international section. However, the parts that grabs my attention are when something unnecessary is portrayed as a big breaking news for an example Harry and Meghan Markle holding hands in the Queens funeral. Do you, or someone el

SEMIOTICS!

Image
SEMIOTICS: ENGLISH BY FORMER GREENFORD STUDENT TARUN THIND: What meanings are the audience encouraged to take about the two main characters from the opening of the film? From the opening of the film the audience takes that the two main characters are causing trouble as "youths" this is shown through the hoodies, tramps and threatening thugs.  How does the end of the film emphasise de Saussure’s belief that signs are polysemic – open to interpretation or more than one meaning? The film emphasises that just because the main characters are not saying anything and acting like violent youths with the pencil in his hand doesn't mean that they are bad people in this movie it was that the characters were silent/mute and couldn't communicate with their mouth, so they were trying to talk through their eyes. Being mute and not being able to talk can open many interpretations. MEIDA MAGAZINE: MM68 PAGE 24: What did Ferdinand de Saussure suggest are the two parts that make up a s

FIRST MEDIA BLOG!

FIRST MEDIA BLOG: Why did you choose A level media studies? I chose media A level because it gives me a variety of future career directions. Media can be related in any sort of business, and it is a good skill that improves critical thinking along with analytical and practical skills. Media A level caught my attention because media involves cameras, radio stations but also involves marketing and advertising which made me want to investigate more. Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)? My previous school, Global Academy which is well known to be a media school in which case media was a compulsory subject to take. This is also another reason why I chose media in Greenford. I decided to change schools because I was not quite sure if media was the only route, I wanted to take so I came to Greenford so I can choose a variety of options and make a decision on which one I enjoyed and preferred the most so I would pursue that career route in univers
